Composer’s Assistant to Claire Cowan

I worked as a Composer’s Assistant to composer Claire Cowan as she teamed up with Pop musician Benee to write orchestra arrangements for a series of live concerts with a live orchestra.

My role involved creating digital demos of Claire’s arrangements so that they could be shared with Benee and her team.

I worked with the primary composer Tane Upjohn-Beatson to create additional music for this show.

Tröll became an Outstanding Theatre Award Winner for the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe Review. This show was also nominated for various awards at the 2019 Wellington Theatre Awards, including Best Original Music.

I edited the recordings of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra for Rhian Sheehan's epic score for this video by Screen Wellington.

Complete with cameo appearances by James Cameron, Peter Jackson & Richard Taylor, this video aims to celebrate and promote filmmaking in Wellington.

For this New Zealand documentary, I worked as the assistant to composer Ewan Clark. My tasks were varied and included some music editing, MIDI programming, and performing guitar on the film.

Cure All | 2019 Short Film

This bizarre absurdist short film features a bold score with strange instrumentation including accordion, güiro, and prepared piano. The score was also preformed live at the Roxy Cinema in Miramar Wellingon with a 28-piece orchestra on the 13th of November 2019.

Paper Plane | 2020 Short Film

This short film was created in lockdown during the 2020 Corona Virus Pandemic, this collaboration between different bubbles and old friends was a nice moment in a period of uncertainly.

Losing Light | 2019 Short Film

This two-minute one-take experimental short film was selected to play in the Santa Barbara 3-Minute Film Festival in 2019.

Low Level Panic | 2018 Theatre Show

This 60 minute classic feminist theatre show was directed by Harriette Barker. This was the first time this iconic 1988 play, from feminist legend Clare McIntyre, had been preformed in New Zealand.


This show was preformed during the 6 Degrees Festival at BATS Theatre.

Kauhanga | 2015 Installation

Composer

I wrote original music for this award winning art installation. Created by Lachie Philipson and Harmony Repia, this installation tells the stories of Māori wāhine during the First World War.

This work was displayed in the Aotea Centre in Auckland in 2016.
